From 2012 to 2014, the German Spine Society carried out an evaluation of a registry. The objective of the registry is to provide an instrument to measure the quality of indications, processes and results.
As it makes little sense to develop such a registry unilaterally on a national level, the society has drawn on international initiatives and the German Spine Registry is therefore based on the Spine Tango platform. The data collected from the participants is stored on a central server within the Federal Republic of Germany. The rights and obligations of participants are governed by conditions of participation.
The necessary IT infrastructure is currently provided by the Oldenburg Research and Development Institute for Information Technology (OFFIS). The data is analysed and the registry is developed jointly with the MEM Research Institute at the University of Bern.
The registry is part of the institute certification; for this purpose, a somewhat reduced data entry form is used and made available for online data entry. These forms will be evaluated in the next two years.
